The role: Reporting to the Head of Data we have an exciting opportunity as Data Engineer to play a pivotal role delivering the latest technologies within an organisation that has adopted multi-channel at the heart of its retail business strategy. You would be working for a fast growing dynamic retailer which is constantly exploiting new opportunities that require enthusiastic, passionate and capable people to support them in this growth.
This position is on-site (Trafford park).
What you’ll be doing:
This is a business focused role for someone who will quickly grasp the strategy of the company, then using their technical and insight expertise, will support initiatives that underpin that strategy using data.
Providing robust insights, analysis and analytical reporting to interpret results and inform key business areas on customer profiles and trends.
Help manage the company data and take responsibility for our data warehouse.
Promote the use of cutting edge tooling, frameworks and components to increase quality and reduce friction in the data development process.
Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
To work with stakeholders internally and externally, creating procedures and managing data flows.
What you’ll bring: Must have a passion for technology with an in-depth understanding of on-line based systems, tools and trends.
Problem Solving attitude is a must.
The ability to operate independently against prioritised requirements whilst supporting other people within the team.
The ability to be able to manage simultaneously a number of complex issues and continue to support driving the operation in the right direction.
Someone who can work well under pressure in a calm manner and doesn’t get distracted from the end goal.
To be a self-starter with energy who is able to consistently deliver a high quality of work in a dynamic environment.

Someone who wants to be exposed to a large number of technologies and has a drive to learn more about AI.
EXPERIENCE
* 2-3 years in a data science or engineering role.
* Qualification (BSc/MSc) in Computer Science/ Computing preferable.
* Proven experience in SQL, Python and GIT.
* Experience of ETL pipelines.
* Can produce documentation to an ISO 9001 standard.
* A very good understanding of modern code development practices.
* Solid understanding of Relational Databases & Data Warehouse methodology.
* Experience with data modelling and structures.
* Good critical thinking and proven problem-solving abilities.
* Experience of working with large and complex datasets.
* Exposure of MSSQL, MySQL, AWS platform (S3, Athena, Redshift), Azure, Mongo DB
* Advanced Excel knowledge.
* Experience in and with and administering M.I tools such as PowerBI, Qlik and tableau preferred.
* To be a self-starter with energy who is able to consistently deliver a high quality of work in a dynamic environment.
* Experience applying AI and machine learning techniques in data workflows, such as NLP, predictive analytics, or intelligent automation; familiarity with tools like Scikit-learn, Azure ML, or LLMs is a plus.
